About Net Pay
Net Pay helps you understand what you actually keep. Most salary calculators are slow, cluttered with ads, and vague about how they reach a number. Net Pay is the opposite: fast, clearly explained, and private by design. It's both a set of free web calculators and an iOS app, built and maintained by the Net Pay Team.
How we calculate
Every result — on the web and in the app — comes from the same tested calculation engine. For each country we model the real deductions in order: income tax bands, social contributions (National Insurance / FICA / PRSI / German social insurance), pension contributions and student-loan repayments, then show the result by year, month and week. The web calculators run entirely in your browser and update live as you type.
Where our numbers come from
We use the official rates and thresholds published by each country's tax authority for the current tax year:
- United Kingdom: HMRC / GOV.UK
- United States: IRS
- Australia: Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
- Germany: Bundesministerium der Finanzen
- Ireland: Revenue.ie
Live currency rates in the app come from the European Central Bank (via frankfurter.app) and cryptocurrency prices from CoinGecko. Results are estimates for guidance — always confirm with an official source before making a financial decision.
How often we update
Tax rules change every year. We update the engine when a new tax year's rates and thresholds are confirmed by the official sources above, and the change ships to both the web calculators and the app together.
The mobile app
The Net Pay iOS app brings the same engine to your pocket and adds a private net-worth tracker for your savings, investments and crypto across currencies. Everything stays on your device — no account, no server. See our privacy policy for the detail.
Privacy
Your salary, holdings and inputs never leave your device. There is no account, no tracking pixel on the calculators, and nothing sent to a server — which makes Net Pay fast, honest and genuinely yours.
